One of my favorite sculptures in Liverpool is Lambbanana.

The name says it – it’s part Lamb and part Banana.

Super Lamb Banana referenced Liverpool’s history of lamb and banana trade.

Sheep and bananas were common cargos in the docks of Liverpool.

The original Super Lamb Banana was a concrete and steel sculpture located on the Strand.

You can see them all over Liverpool in different colors.

It was originally created by artist Taro Chiezo and commissioned for the Art Transpennine Exhibition of 1998.

Chiezo only created a four-inch model and the full size was made by four local artists:  Julian Taylor, Tommy Reason, Andy Small, and Ray Stokes.

They are super cute and a trademark of Liverpool – you can buy them for souvenir.

I got me a little yellow fridge magnet lambbanana.

The Beatles Story

If you are a music fan, when someone says Liverpool you think Beatles!

And that’s normal because they are probably the most famous band ever and also one of my favorite bands also.

So it was inevitable that we will visit all that has to do with them.

And in Liverpool you can visit all kind of things that have connection with the band – Cavern Club, John Lennon statue, Eleanor Rigby statue, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields and of course The Beatles Story museum.  I mentioned just a few things.

We went to the museum in the morning and spend there a few hours.

We bought the tickets online through their web site, you get a discount if you buy online.

Tickets can also be purchased on the day of your visit.

At Albert Dock is the main exhibition where you can follow Beatles from their childhood, through the early days, to becoming famous in the whole world and their solo careers.

There are replicas of the Cavern Club,  Casbah and Mathew Street.

You can see a lot of photographs and memorabilia, Yellow Submarine, souvenirs from other countries – like Russian nesting dolls or nylon socks with the Beatles.

In museum is also FAB4 cafe with the free Wi-Fi, and the FAB4 store where you can buy Beatles souvenirs.

At the Pier Head there is another museum that is covered with the same ticket.

There you can see the Hidden Gallery – a collection of rare photographs documenting The Beatles’ 1963-1964 tour.

There is also a special exhibition there – now it’s the “The British Invasion: How 1960s beat groups conquered America “

When we were visiting there was exhibition called Elvis and Us   – about Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

It’s a great museum and definitely worth visiting.

Museums, museums, museums….

I like visiting museums so every time we are in a new city I explore what kind of museums are there and what would I like to see.

In Liverpool you have really a lot of museums and most of them are free to visit – no entrance fee at all. 🙂

Our second day there we spent the whole day in the museums.

There are 4 museums at the Albert Dock.

First, we visited the Merseyside Maritime Museum.

There you can see lots of boats, 70 of them full size and the model of the Titanic and Lusitania.

Also a lot of paintings and photograph regarding the Battle of Atlantic in WW2.

There is also a Tate museum – a museum of modern arts.

I’m not really a fan of modern arts, but we decided to take a look.

Tate Liverpool is the home of the National Collection of Modern Art.

The museum has 4 floors and a lot of paintings, sculptures and installations.

Still not my thing – in all of modern art museums I usually find maybe 2 things that I like.

Then we went to the museum of Liverpool – the museum is in an interesting building by the River Mersey.

There you can see how it was growing up in Liverpool, Liverpool Overhead Railway, King’s Regiment collection, regional archaeology collection and also a range of Beatles related material.

A really good museum.

Our last museum for the day was the World Museum. This museum is located in William Brown Street.

It’s in a beautiful neoclassical building. Also a very good museum where you can see the Roman sculpture collection, Ancient Egypt collection, Zoology collection, Botany, Geology and much more.

These four museums were all for free. We also visited some museum with an entry fee, but about them some other time.

Few years ago they introduced cheap flight tickets from Zadar to Liverpool.

So I thought, why not go to Liverpool. We took few days off in June and decided to go to Liverpool.

From Zadar it’s a two hour flight to Liverpool.

We were there around  2 PM, we checked in the hostel – Hatters and decided that we just gonna do for a walk around the city to see were is what.

We went to the Docks and went to the Echo wheel.

My first time on the sightseeing wheel  – I usually don’t go because I don’t like heights but this time I decided to give it a try.

The Echo wheel is 60 meters high and the view on the Liverpool is really great.

But I really did not like that swinging seat 🙂

We were a little hungry so we went to have some Fish & Chips ( I looooove F&C)

There was a Lobster Pot near so we went there.
