Edinburgh is a cute and charming town. I didn’t have the luck to absorbs all the cuteness because we had only few hours to spend in Edinburgh.
That’s a shame because you just cant see everything you would like and you you are gonna like this city on a first sight.
What immediately catches the eye is the Edinburgh Castle. It stands at the head of the Old Town.
The Castle is the symbol of Edinburgh and the most popular visitor attraction in Scotland.
Sadly we didn’t have the time to go in, but you can visit the castle if you buy a ticket.
We visited the Greyfriars Kirkyard graveyard. The graveyard is associated with Greyfriars Bobby, the loyal dog who guarded his master’s grave.
He spend 14 years guarding the grave of his owner. The story continues to be well known in Scotland through several books and films.
Also Thomas Riddell’s grave is believed to be the inspiration for one of the characters in J. K. Rowling´s Harry Potter fantasy series, as the character Lord Voldemort was born as Tom Riddle.
After walking through the city center we got a little hungry so we choose a pub in the center called „The Fiddler’s Arms“ where we had great fish & chips and a pint of beer.
Food was very good and the prices are good also.
The pub is at the end of the Grassmarket in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle.
After lunch we walked a little more around the city and it was already time to go.
I hope to go back one day. 🙂
