Parlez-vous français?

Strasbourg

When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother…..

Where should I go?

And she said: You have to go to Paris!

So we made a deal that for my eighteenth birthday she’s gonna give me a trip to Paris.

But when my birthday came she told me that I can choose if I want to go to Paris or if I want to go and get my driver’s licence.

We didn’t have money so I thought that driver’s licence would be of better use.

Years got by , life goes on and I didn’t think about it much (only when I heard Mike Oldfield on the radio with «never going to get to France….»)

Then I got married and my husband and I talked about going on the Honeymoon.

When I asked him where would he want to go, he said : I don’t know, you find something.

So I turn on the computer and started looking. I find a page of a travel agency and there it was: Special price! 6 days France!

OMG! That was it! We are going to Paris!

It was a 6 day tour – 1 day in Strasbourg, 1 day in Reims, 3 days in Paris and last day in Disneyland.

I was very excited 

I didn’t really know what to expect, I only heard stories about Paris , about the City of Love.

We went with a bus, so we had a long way ahead of us. We traveled whole night and half of day until we got to Strasbourg.

That was our first destination and we had an afternoon to explore.

Strasbourg is the official seat of the European Parliament. Also the seat of several European institutions, such as the Council of Europe.

Strasbourg’s historic city center was classified a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.

Main sight in Strasbourg is the Cathedral of Our Lady. It is a Roman Catholic cathedral.

At 142 meters, it was the world’s tallest building from 1647 to 1874.

West front is decorated with thousands of figures. On the Cathedral is an Astronomical Clock, one of the largest in the world.

It’s a very beautiful Cathedral.

After visiting the Parliament, Council of Europe and the Cathedral we spend the rest of our day just walking trough the City center

and enjoying the view on the beautiful buildings and houses.

We spend the night in a hotel in Strasbourg.
